What Is A Prayer Letter?

A prayer letter is a way to update those holding the ropes at home of what God is accomplishing through their prayers on the mission field. Prayer letters share victories and discouragments with home supporters in an effort to provide specific ways for individuals to intercede on behalf of missionaries.

Prayer represents the power of missions. Apart from the prayers of individuals and churches, missinoaries are ill equipped to perform the spiritual warfare they engage in on a daily basis. Each believer bears the responsibility to partner in prayer with world missions. As much as the missionary on the field, the prayer's of the saints of God propel the gospel forward on the mission field.

Prayer And Missions

Beginning with the very first missionary journey recorded in Scripture, the prayers of local churches has been the lifeline and support for missionaries serving in foreign lands. The Apostle Paul appealed to churches during his missionary endeavors.

Paul appealed to believers to pray for opportunity and boldness in proclaiming the gospel.

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel. - Ephesians 6:19

Paul also appealed to believers to pray for religious liberty and deliverance from those who would oppose the gospel message.

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. - 1 Thesselonians 3:1-2

Please pray with us that God would grant boldness in our witness. Pray for open doors to share the gospel effectively. Ask God to lift social and psychological pressure which would hinder the gospels progress in Japan.
